Pune News: Kondhwa Traffic Police Crack Down On Heavy Vehicles To Reduce Accidents and Road Congestion
The Kondhwa Traffic Division initiated a crackdown on heavy vehicles, including RMC trucks and dumpers, operating in the area on Friday. This action follows a wave of resident complaints about the dangers posed by these vehicles, which have been linked to numerous severe accidents. The traffic division’s initiative is part of a larger effort to improve road safety and ease congestion across Kondhwa.
Senior Police Inspector Kumar Ghadge, speaking to Pune Pulse, confirmed that the operation began at NIBM Chowk in Kondhwa, specifically targeting reckless drivers of heavy vehicles. These vehicles not only pose a safety risk but also frequently spill cement onto the road, creating hazards for two-wheelers, contributing to road congestion, and deteriorating road quality.
Today, action was taken at NIBM Chowk regarding heavy vehicle traffic. During the operation, a total of 6 concrete mixer trucks and one other heavy vehicle were fined. In this action, a total penalty amount of ₹9,500 was collected from the vehicle drivers.
Inspector Ghadge stated that this action is not a one-off measure; the division intends to continue enforcing stricter regulations on heavy vehicles to maintain safer and smoother roads in the area.
This latest move follows a recent successful initiative by the Kondhwa Traffic Division to alleviate congestion near Somji Chowk, which provided immediate relief to local commuters. The division’s ongoing efforts aim to address the dual challenges of traffic congestion and road safety that have long troubled Kondhwa’s residents.
