Pune, May 22: Maharashtra continues to lead as an industry-friendly state, attracting investments worth approximately ₹15.7 lakh crore. Along with promoting large-scale industries, the state government is also offering significant incentives to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), said Industry Minister Uday Samant. He assured that all necessary steps will be taken by the state to resolve the concerns of industrialists in the Chakan MIDC area.

Samant was speaking at a meeting held in Chakan with officials from various government departments and industrial associations to address local issues. Present at the meeting were MLA Babaji Kale, MIDC Chief Engineer Nitin Wankhade, Pimpri Chinchwad DCP Bapu Bangar, and NHAI Project Director Sanjay Kadam, among others.

Highlighting a shift in global manufacturing, Samant said, “As industries are moving out of China, Maharashtra has greatly benefited.” He urged businesses to take advantage of the incentives provided by the government, adding that the state has planned to offer ₹6,100 crore in incentives in the upcoming year—more than what was granted over the last three years combined.

Land Allotted for Workers’ Hospital During Meeting

A long-pending issue of land allocation for an ESIC workers’ hospital in Chakan was also resolved during the meeting. Acting promptly on industry concerns, Minister Samant instructed officials to hand over the land allocation letter before the meeting concluded. The letter was presented to the association representatives, earning thanks from MLA Kale and local industrialists.

Focus on Infrastructure and Security

Samant emphasized the need for improved infrastructure and safety, suggesting the installation of streetlights and CCTV cameras in the industrial area. While streetlight work has already started, funds will be provided for CCTV installation as a special provision.

He also proposed using a local truck terminus with a capacity of 150 trucks to reduce traffic congestion and accidents. Police and industrial associations were asked to collaborate on this. In addition, MIDC and police officials were instructed to survey vacant lands and develop small truck parking spaces accommodating 25–30 trucks to decentralize traffic flow. Police were urged to take strict measures for traffic discipline.

Power and Water Supply Improvements

To ensure uninterrupted power supply, Samant directed MSETCL and MSEDCL to coordinate and upgrade infrastructure, including HT lines, feeders, and distribution transformers. Currently, work worth ₹420 crore is underway, and tenders for ₹664 crore in additional projects have been awarded. He advised completing these projects swiftly in a phased manner and recommended industry consultations to decide the most convenient weekly maintenance shutdown day.

Samant also encouraged large industries to treat wastewater (tertiary treatment) for non-potable use to help make water available for other new industries.

Support for Traffic Regulation and Road Repairs

To ease congestion at key locations, three cranes will be provided, and industries were asked to support police by appointing traffic wardens. Responding quickly, Pimpri Chinchwad industrial associations committed to providing 10 wardens. Police had raised this request earlier.

He also stressed the need to speed up road repairs within the MIDC area and work in coordination with other departments for external roads.

CSR for Dam-Related Work

MLA Babaji Kale urged industries to use their CSR funds to support work on submerged weirs under the Bhama Askhed Dam project. Minister Samant endorsed the suggestion and asked industries to respond positively.

He informed the gathering that multiple projects are underway to address road issues in the region. The state cabinet has approved ₹4,000 crore for upgrading the Talegaon–Chakan 4-lane road and the Chakan–Shikrapur 6-lane ground-level road. Work will soon begin under the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation. NHAI officials also provided updates on their respective road projects.

Senior officials from MSETCL, MSEDCL, Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority, and the Public Works Department were present at the meeting.
