Pune : Maha govt upgrades 9 regional transport offices

Pune: The Maharashtra Government on Friday approved the upgrading of 9 deputy regional transport offices to the level of Regional Transport Offices (RTO) in order to elevate the efficiency of regional transport services across the state. 

As per the Government Resolution (GR), the deputy RTOs in Pimpri Chinchwad, Jalgaon, Solapur, Vasai, Ahmednagar, Chandrapur, Akola, Borivali and Satara will be upgraded to the level of RTOs.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Sanjeev Bhor, DCP RTO Pune, said, “The deputy RTO offices of 9 locations of the state will be elevated to head RTO status. The upgrading  and refurbishing work of them will begin soon.”

With this, the number of main RTO offices in the state has gone up from 15 to 24, whereas the count of deputy RTO offices has decreased from 36 to 27.

Additionally, the transport commissioner has been instructed by the state government to appoint license, registration, and taxation officers for each RTO and deputy RTO.
