Pune: The Bharati Vidyapeeth Police has managed to successfully arrest the chief of ‘Chuha Gang’ from Nira in Purandar taluka. As per the information, the person is identified as Sakib Mahmood Chaudhari aka Latif Baagwan.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Vijay Kumbhar, Police Inspector, Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station, said, “The gang was known as ‘Chuha Gang’ operating mainly in the Katraj area. The chief of the gang, Sakib Chaudhari, was out on bail for the last 6 months. However, he started to commit more crimes. As a result, the police have arrested him again.”

As per information, the chief of Chuha Gang has been arrested under sections 307, 323, 143, 144, 147, 148, 149, Section 4 (25) of the Arms Act, Sections 37(1)(3), 135 and Sections 31, 3 (2), 3 (4) of Maharashtra Organized Crime Control Act (MCOCA).

As per information, Chaudhari was living in different districts repeatedly. Meanwhile, he created his gang and spread terror in the Katraj and Santosh Nagar areas. He used to motivate school students to commit all sorts of crimes. As a result, some of the students, who were now gang members, attacked a person in February 2023. 

After receiving reliable information that he is living in Pune, the investigation team of Bharati University Police Station went to Nira in Purandar taluka and detained him. Police are further investigating the matter.
