Pune: Maha Metro Services on Civil Court to Swargate Stretch Likely to Start in September
Commuters can finally look forward to a smoother travel experience as Maha Metro services on the Civil Court to Swargate stretch are expected to start in September. After months of delays, officials have confirmed that the remaining works on the stretch are in the final stages and are likely to be completed within the next few days.
The Maha Metro has approached the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) to schedule safety checks of the entire stretch, including three stations. Once the safety clearance is obtained, the stretch is expected to be operationalized by mid-September.
This development comes as a relief to regular commuters who have been eagerly waiting for the route to become operational. The start of services on this stretch is expected to boost footfall and provide an alternative to travelers during the busy Ganeshotsav season.
Pune is an important economic centre of our nation and we are committed to boosting the city’s infrastructure. In this context, the Cabinet today has approved the Pune Metro Phase-1 project extension. This is great news for the city’s further development,” Modi said in a post on X.
Union minister of state Muralidhar Mohol stated, “The approval demonstrates the success of our efforts and the Modi Government’s commitment to Pune’s development. After reviewing the project with Pune Metro officials, we took the necessary steps to follow up with the central government.”
The extension will enhance connectivity of all regions via the District Court interchange station.
“The projected daily ridership on the Swargate-Katraj Line for 2027, 2037, 2047, and 2057 is estimated to be 95,000, 1.58 lakh, 1.87 lakh, and 1.97 lakh passengers, respectively
While some commuters have expressed frustration at the delays, Maha Metro officials are confident that the services will start soon. The operationalization of this stretch will also pave the way for the crucial Katraj extension, which received Centre’s approval on Friday
