A potentially dangerous incident occurred on Monday afternoon on Pune’s Dhanori-Porwal Road when a large hoarding suddenly collapsed. The structure fell within the jurisdiction of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), raising serious concerns about public safety. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident.

Datta Satav, a fire brigade personnel told Pune Pulse that no injuries were reported in the incident.

The fire brigade responded promptly to the scene and ensured the area was secured. According to local residents, the road had regular vehicular and pedestrian movement just moments before the hoarding came crashing down. Eyewitnesses stated that had it fallen even a few seconds earlier, it could have resulted in a major tragedy.

This incident has sparked outrage among residents who are increasingly worried about the growing number of hoardings in the area. Many are now demanding strict action from PMC against those responsible and greater regulation of such installations to prevent future mishaps.

In response, PMC officials arrived at the site to assess the situation and launched an inquiry. Authorities are now investigating which agency erected the hoarding and whether the proper permissions were obtained.

The incident has once again highlighted the risks posed by unauthorized or poorly maintained hoardings across the city, prompting renewed calls for stricter oversight and immediate corrective action.
