A 41-year-old man was injured in an attempted murder case during the Ganesh immersion procession in Erandwane on Tuesday night. The police have arrested two suspects, both around 25 years old, who reside in Kelewadi, Kothrud.

The incident occurred around 11:30 PM when the victim was watching the procession near the SNDT bus stop. The accused attacked him with an iron rod, resulting in serious injuries. The victim was promptly taken to a hospital for treatment.

According to the police, the attack stemmed from a past incident involving a missed call. Four months ago, the victim accidentally dialed the number of the accused’s cousin’s wife, which led to a quarrel. This unresolved conflict escalated into violence during the procession.

The suspects have been charged with attempted murder under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.The police registered the complaint based on a report filed by the victim’s mother on Wednesday.

This alarming incident highlights the dangers of unresolved personal disputes, which can lead to extreme actions. Community members are urged to resolve conflicts peacefully to prevent such violent occurrences in the future.
