Pune: Man Booked For Assaulting Female MSEDCL Employee During Bill Recovery Drive In Lonavala
Lonavala, March 17, 2026: A case has been registered at the Lonavala City Police Station against a man for allegedly pushing and obstructing a female electricity department employee while she was performing official duty during a bill recovery drive.
According to officials, the recovery campaign by Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) is currently underway across the Pune circle to collect pending electricity dues.
On Monday (March 16) at around 2:10 pm, senior technician Karishma Mukesh Patil, accompanied by contract worker Aniket Malpute, visited Ravi Pangoli Society to recover pending electricity bills. The electricity connection registered in the name of Sham Ramchandra Pawar had an outstanding bill of ₹980 for February and ₹990 for March.
Following Patil’s instructions, Malpute began disconnecting the electricity supply due to the unpaid dues. At that time, a man identified as Jaynil Doshi, who claimed to be the property owner, objected to the action and confronted the staff.
When Patil herself attempted to disconnect the power supply, Doshi allegedly stopped her, pulled her back, and pushed her forcefully, causing her to fall. He also reportedly took the key of the two-wheeler belonging to Patil’s colleague and prevented the team from leaving the spot, leading to further confrontation.
Based on the complaint filed by Karishma Patil, Lonavala City Police have registered a case against Jaynil Doshi under Section 221 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, for obstructing a government servant from performing official duties.
The case is currently under investigation by Police Havaldar Shashikant Khopde.
