Pune Man Critically Injured By Four Youths Over Barking Dog

The victim, Suraj Salim Shaikh, a resident of Yeolewadi, was severely beaten during a violent altercation over a barking dog near Sinhagad College.

The victim was brutally assaulted and has alleged that his chain was stolen. Suraj Salim Shaikh, age 32, was attacked by four youths in the Yelawadi region of Pune. The youths consisted of Nilesh Shelke, who is the owner of the dog, and his three friends. The incident took place in the afternoon of Saturday around the premises of Sinhagad College. The complainant is a resident of Yeolewadi who was attacked by the group of four men and was beaten up brutally. 

As per the police, Shaikh lodged an FIR at the Kondhwa Police Station against Nilesh Shelke and three other people who owned a dog. The incident happened when Suraj was returning home on Friday night on a two-wheeler when Shelke’s dog started barking at him. The barking led to an argument between the Shaikh and Selke and the former was beaten up by Shelke and his friends with a bamboo stick and a rod. The incident continued the next day when Shaikh was on the way to the Khadi Machine Chowk accompanied by his friend, wherein Shelke, along with his three accomplices, started abusing him and fighting with him over the previous incident. 

Shaikh was beaten up again in fit of rage. He fell unconscious and was rushed to the hospital. He has suffered serious injuries on his head, back and leg. Shaikh has also claimed that they robbed his gold chain, probably when he was unconscious, and fled the scene immediately. The police are still probing into the matter and are yet to arrest the perpetrators. The police have charged the perpetrators for assault, breach and act done by them with common intention.
