Pune: The Pune police have registered a case against a man accused of posing as an employee of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and deceiving officials at the Karve Nagar branch of the Bank of Baroda. The suspect allegedly submitted forged documents to secure a vehicle loan amounting to Rs 20.83 lakh.

Akhil Pisal, an official from the Bank of Baroda, filed the First Information Report  at Alankar police station, triggering a thorough investigation into the incident. Rahul Patil, a resident of Pune, has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code related to forgery, breach of trust, and cheating.

According to Police officials, the accused approached the Karve Nagar branch of the Bank of Baroda, ostensibly seeking a loan to finance the purchase of a four-wheeler. Police told accused Rahul  successfully obtained a loan of Rs 20.83 lakh from the bank. However, he later sold the vehicle and defaulted on the Equated Monthly Installments (EMIs).

Upon discovering the fraud, the bank conducted a thorough examination of the submitted documents, including the Aadhaar card and salary slips. Investigators found that these documents, which purportedly established the accused’s employment at ONGC, were forged.

Police told, as per the complaint filed by the bank officials, they have registered a case and Ganesh Chavan is handling the case further.
