Pune : Massive Fire at 20 Pune Godowns Brought Under Control After 8-Hour Battle

In a dramatic turn of events, a massive fire broke out at around 8:55 AM at godown located near Aai Mata Mandir road in Bibvewadi, Pune. The fire quickly spread and engulfed 20 adjacent godowns, containing a variety of materials such as plastic, glass, cement, wiring, and rubber, etc.

Immediate action was taken as 14 fire tenders rushed to the scene to combat the raging flames. However, due to the severity of the situation, an additional 8 fire tenders and two vehicles were summoned to the site. The Pune Municipal Corporation also dispatched over ten water tankers to aid in extinguishing the fire.

The godowns primarily stored items like wedding decoration materials, clothes, soaps, oil paints, glass, rubber, and wiring. The surrounding area, densely populated with residential buildings, posed a significant risk. Nevertheless, the prompt response from the fire brigade prevented a major disaster, safeguarding both the nearby houses and a tempo truck parked in the vicinity.

The firefighting efforts involved the dedicated work of PMC Fire Brigade Chief Devendra Potfode, 15 other officials, and 100 personnel. PMC senior officials, including Srinivas Kandul (electricity) and Aniruddha Pawaskar (water supply), along with other officials, extended their full support to the fire brigade throughout the operation.

Thankfully, there were no reports of injuries resulting from the incident. After an arduous battle that lasted for eight long hours, the fire was finally brought under control. The authorities will now investigate the cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage caused by this unfortunate incident.
