Pune Metro builds under water metro tunnel below Mutha river bed
Pune city has several bridges which connects several suburbs to the city areas and vice versa. Some of them are centuries old while some are build in the last few decades.
But for the first time, Pune Metro has constructed first underwater metro tunnel below the Mutha river bed.
When asked about the information to Hemant Sonawane, chief public relations officer from Pune Metro, he said, “For first time ever Pune metro has underwater metro tunnel below Mutha river bed. The tunnel is built between Civil Court and Budhwar Peth.”
Tunnels of ~240 mtrs. by Mutha & 223 mtrs. by Mula were completed between Civil Court & Budhwar Peth. The underground tunnel was dug up by using tunnel boring machine to cross Mutha river.
