Pune Metro Expansion: All About Hadapsar-Loni Kalbhor and Hadapsar-Saswad Road Lines
Pune Metro To Launch ‘Coach Restaurant’ Near District Court Station
Pune, November 6, 2025 — The Maharashtra Government’s Cabinet Infrastructure Committee, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has approved two new metro rail routes for Pune — one from Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor and another from Hadapsar to Saswad Road Railway Station. The total cost of these projects is estimated at ₹5,704 crore.
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) had already cleared the proposal in February 2025 and forwarded it to the state government for further consideration. With the Infrastructure Committee’s approval, the proposal will now move to the State Cabinet and subsequently to the Union Government for final sanction.
Both routes are part of the larger Khadakwasla–Swargate–Hadapsar–Kharadi Metro network under Pune Metro Phase 2.
Route Details:
- Hadapsar–Loni Kalbhor Line: Spanning 11.35 km, this route will feature 10 stations, including Hadapsar Phata, Hadapsar Bus Depot, Akashwani-Hadapsar, Laxmi Colony, Manjari Phata, Draksha Baug, Toll Naka, Wak Vasti, and Loni Kalbhor.
- Hadapsar Bus Depot–Saswad Road Line: Covering 5.57 km, it will include four stations — Hadapsar Gliding Club, Phursungi IT Park, Sulabh Garden, and Saswad Road Railway Station.
The State and Union Governments will contribute 20% each towards the total project cost, while the remaining 60% will be funded through loans. Land acquisition, estimated at ₹3.6 crore, will be facilitated by the PMC.
Deputy Chief Minister and Pune Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar stated that these metro lines will significantly reduce traffic congestion, especially along the Pune–Solapur route, and encourage citizens to opt for public transport over private vehicles. He added that the expansion will ensure safer and faster commuting options for residents.
