Pune Metro Increases Frequency And Trips On Both Routes
On August 21, 2024, the Yerwada Metro Station was opened to passenger services. On this occasion, Pune Metro increased the frequency of trains on both lines. During peak hours (8 AM to 11 AM and 4 PM to 8 PM), the frequency on both the Aqua and Purple lines has been reduced from 7.5 minutes to 7 minutes, meaning a train will now be available every 7 minutes. As a result, both lines will see an increase of 4 trips each. Previously, the route from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation to District Court had 113 trips, which will now be increased to 117 trips from August 21, 2024. Similarly, the Vanaz to Ramwadi route, which had 114 trips, will now have 118 trips.
During non-peak hours (6 AM to 8 AM, 11 AM to 4 PM, and 8 PM to 10 PM), the frequency will remain at 10 minutes as before.
Maha Metro’s Managing Director, Shravan Hardikar, stated, “The increase in frequency and trips will benefit passengers by reducing their waiting time at metro stations. With 8 additional trips during peak hours on both routes, more citizens will be able to travel by metro.”
