In a bid to promote and facilitate metro usage, Maha-Metro has recently announced a generous 30% concession for both students up to the graduation level and weekend travelers.

The move is aimed at making metro travel more accessible and affordable, encouraging students and weekend commuters to opt for convenient and sustainable transportation options.

Vinod Agrawal, the director of Maha-Metro’s operation and maintenance, expressed enthusiasm about the initiative, highlighting its goal of enhancing transportation opportunities for the city’s residents. With this concession in place, students and weekend travelers can now enjoy significant savings on their metro journeys.

The stretches from Garware to Ruby Hall Clinic and Phugewadi to Civil Court are expected to serve as crucial connections within the city, facilitating smooth and efficient commuting. Once these stretches are operational, a total of 13 metro trains, along with two spares, will be in service, offering regular intervals of 30 minutes for commuters from 7 am to 10 pm daily.

During peak hours, the train frequency will be further reduced to 15 minutes, ensuring faster transportation during busy times.

In addition to the metro service itself, Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal (PMPML) will provide feeder services to and from the nearby metro stations, making it even more convenient for passengers to access the metro network.

Furthermore, Maha-Metro has plans to establish mobile network coverage across all underground stations, guaranteeing uninterrupted connectivity for commuters during their journeys.

However, it’s important to note that safety remains a priority. Vinod Agrawal emphasized the need for caution among passengers and discouraged taking selfies on moving elevators. Such actions pose potential dangers and can compromise the safety of both the individual and others around them.

Overall, these developments mark a significant step towards enhancing public transportation in Pune, making it more appealing and convenient for students and weekend travelers, while also ensuring a safe and connected metro experience for all passengers.
