The Pune Metro Line 3, a 23-km corridor from Maan to Shivajinagar, is expected to be completed by the end of next year. According to sources from the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), the integrated flyover for the metro line is likely to be ready by April 2025.

The flyover work was initially scheduled to be completed by November this year, but was later pushed to December. However, due to delays in construction and pending permissions, the work is now expected to be completed by April next year.

“The construction of ramp and deck slabs is still pending. We also need permissions for certain stretches, so the 1.7-km flyover work will not be fully completed until April 2025,” a PMRDA source said.

The integrated flyover is a critical component of the metro line, and officials say that operations cannot start without it. While work is ongoing for the entire corridor, it is likely to be completed only by the end of next year.

Heavy traffic along the busy route has been a major hurdle in completing the flyover work, despite regular review meetings to track the progress of work. Issues related to multiple clearances for construction activities, including right of way and shifting of utility lines, have also contributed to the delay.

The government had earlier directed the PMRDA concessionaire Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited (PITCMRL) to complete the work of the flyover from SPPU to E Square junction by November this year on priority. However, the deadline has now been pushed to April 2025.

The Centre has cleared an additional Rs 200 crore as part of viability gap funding for the project, apart from Rs 400 crore cleared earlier. The Centre is supposed to provide around Rs 1,200 crore for the project, of which approximately Rs 600 crore has already been released.
