Pune Metro Line-3 Phase 1 Set To Launch Soon; Single Ticket System For All Metro Lines Planned
Pune Metro Plans Feeder Bus Services To Improve Last-Mile Connectivity and Increase Ridership
Pune, April 11, 2026: Commuters in Pune are set to get major relief as the first phase of the Pune Metro Line-3 project is likely to begin operations next month, bringing the city closer to an integrated metro network.
The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is currently in the final stage of preparations for the launch of Metro Line-3, which connects Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar. Once operational, passengers will be able to travel across Metro Line-3 and the existing services operated by the MahaMetro using a single unified ticket.
Authorities are also working on an integrated fare system, which is expected to be completed before the full launch of the Hinjewadi–Shivajinagar corridor. The first 12-km stretch of this line is planned to open in May.
Currently, MahaMetro operates services on the Vanaz–Ramwadi and Pimpri–Swargate corridors, while work on Metro Line-3 is in its final stages. The project is also expected to be connected to the District Court Metro Station, where a pedestrian bridge is under construction to enable seamless interchange between lines.
Officials confirmed that multiple coordination meetings have already been held between MahaMetro and PMRDA authorities to finalise the unified ticketing system. The proposed system will allow commuters to use a single metro card across all lines, eliminating the need for separate tickets.

In addition, efforts are underway to develop a “One Pune Card” system, which could integrate metro and bus services across Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and the broader PMRDA region, making public transport more convenient and efficient for daily commuters.
