The Pune Metro which was highly anticipated, commenced its operations last year, signifying a significant achievement in the public transportation network of the region.

Initially, the Metro operated between PCMC and Phugewadi, greatly improving the commuting options for the residents. As of August 1, the Metro has extended its services to the civil court, further enhancing the connectivity in the area.

In the upcoming phase of expansion, the Metro will be extended from Pimpri to Swargate, with the inauguration scheduled for March 2024. This development will offer a direct route for the citizens of Pimpri Chinchwad, resulting in valuable time savings for the passengers.

The completion of one of the three metro lines in Pimpri-Chinchwad and Pune cities is scheduled for the end of December, enabling Pune residents to travel directly from Vanaz to Ramwadi. Subsequently, the focus will shift to extending the Metro’s reach and accessibility by connecting the Pimpri to Swargate route.

While certain Metro routes in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad are already operational, such as the routes from Pimpri to Civil Court and Vanaz to Ruby Hall, passenger services are currently available. The construction of the remaining lines from Ruby Hall to Ramwadi Metro Station and Civil Court to Swargate Metro Station is progressing rapidly. Ruby Hall to Ramwadi Metro Station is expected to be open for passenger service by the end of December 2023. Additionally, the Civil Court to Swargate Metro Station is anticipated to open by the end of March 2024, as stated by the Metro Administration.
