Pune: Miscreants Rename Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex on Google Maps, Complaint FiledÂ
Today, it came to light that the name of the Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Mhalunge-Balewadi was maliciously changed on Google Maps to “Chhatrapati Aurangzeb Alamgir Sports Complex” by certain miscreants. This alteration has sparked outrage among Shiv devotees, athletes, local villagers, and citizens, many of whom raised their concerns with me, said Amol Balwadkar.
In response, I immediately visited the Baner Police Station and submitted a written complaint to Senior Police Inspector Chandrashekhar Sawant, demanding prompt investigation and action.
The manipulation of digital tools like Google Maps to create communal discord is deeply concerning. This act is not just an insult to history and public sentiment but also an intentional misuse of technology to provoke tensions in society. There is a growing pattern of such digital mischiefs that aim to disturb the social fabric, and strict measures must be taken to curb them.
During the meeting with police authorities, I strongly demanded that those responsible for this act be traced and penalized without delay. It is crucial that such distorted elements are dealt with firmly to prevent further attempts at spreading misinformation or disrupting communal harmony.
The name of a significant landmark like the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex holds historical and cultural value, and any attempt to alter it unlawfully is unacceptable. This incident must be taken seriously to ensure no repetition in the future, Balwadkar added.
