The Loni Kalbhor Police took action against a woman for reportedly using the National Emblem in her WhatsApp profile picture while pretending to be a senior IPS officer.
The person in question, who is a private money lender, has been charged under the Maharashtra Moneylending Act and other relevant laws. She conducts her business in the Vadki region of Pune, lending money to locals at an interest rate ranging from 10 to 15 percent per month.
The accused, identified as Renuka Ishwar Karanure, 32 years old, resides in Siddhivinayak Society, Vadki, Dist. Haveli. A complaint has been filed by Puja Pravin More, 31 years old, who lives in Sri Siddhivinayak Park, Vadki.
As per the details shared by the Loni Kalbhor police, Karanure lent Rs 2,68,000 to the complainant, Pooja More, amidst the COVID-19 lockdown. Even after More repaid three times the principal along with interest, Karanure insisted on More paying additional funds. When More declined, stating she had already settled the principal amount with interest, Karanure purportedly harassed her and issued threats of harm.
Karanure, pretending to be a senior IPS officer, persistently harassed More and used the National Emblem on her phone to intimidate her into giving more money. After facing continuous threats, More promptly visited the Loni Kalbhor Police Station and lodged a complaint against Karanure. Senior Police Inspector Shashikant Chavan verified the details and the police have filed a case against Renuka Karanure. Police Sub-Inspector Amol Ghodke is currently conducting further investigations into the matter.
