In response to growing apprehension over the proposed monorail project in Late Tatyasaheb Thorat Udyan, Kothrud, the Late Tatyasaheb Thorat Udyan Monorail Hatao Kruti Samiti has organized an important meeting to be held on Saturday, 2nd March.

The Samiti is appealing to the citizens of Pune to actively participate in the protest to stop the monorail project in the city’s important garden. The gathering is scheduled for 8 am at Thorat Udyan in Kothrud.

Expressing opposition to the monorail’s potential impact on the popular Thorat Udyan, residents of Kothrud and frequent visitors to the area have united under an action committee. This committee aims to articulate their stance on the monorail to various city representatives and political figures.

The proposed monorail project foresees the installation of 70 pillars within the park, potentially leading to the felling of numerous trees and encroaching upon vital walking spaces, especially for seniors. The action committee warns of impending challenges for regular park visitors if the monorail proceeds.

Emphasizing the importance of environmental preservation and public park accessibility, the action committee is urging concerned citizens to participate in large numbers. Attendees are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the stance of public representatives on the monorail project and question its imposition despite local opposition.

The meeting on Saturday presents an opportunity for residents to voice their concerns and seek clarity on the future of Thorat Udyan amidst the monorail debate.
