In a tragic accident near Ranjane village (Tal. Rajgad), a mother and son lost their lives, while the married daughter sustained severe injuries. The incident occurred on Sunday night (October 13) around 9 pm.

The victims, identified as Shalan Pasalkar (65) and her son Deepak Pasalkar (45), originally from Giwshi village (Tal. Rajgad) but residing in Daund, Pune district, died in the accident. Deepak’s sister, Kavita Maral (40), a resident of Kanand (Tal. Rajgad), was critically injured.

According to officials, Shalan and Deepak had visited Kavita in Kanand. On their way back to Pune via the Pabe Ghat road, their autorickshaw met with an accident in the Ranjane village limits.

Locals reported that heavy rainfall had caused a large tree to fall on the road in the area. The autorickshaw is believed to have hit the railing of a small bridge in Ranjane village after swerving near the fallen tree, leading to the fatal crash.

Upon receiving information about the accident, Dr. Swagat Rinde from Khanapur informed the disaster management team. A rescue team promptly arrived and cut the fallen tree, clearing the road for traffic. The rescue efforts were led by team members Tanaji Bhosale, Ganesh Sapkal, Sandeep Solaskar, Sanjay Chorghe, Neelkanth Lohkare, and Kailas Darvatkar.

Police investigations, including the panchanama (on-site inspection), continued late into the night. The tragic loss has shocked the local community, while the injured daughter is currently receiving medical treatment.
