Pune: MSEDCL disconnects supply of 16,000 consumers over non-payment of bills for 3 months

According to a press release issued by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), a special drive is being conducted by the power firm in addition to the regular action of disconnection of supply over failure in payment of bills.

Power supply of 16,413 consumers including commercial and industrial defaulters who have failed to pay their electricity bills for three months in Pune circle have been disconnected. In addition to this, actions are underway to cut off the supply of another 71,098 consumers.

A list of residential, commercial, and industrial consumers who have failed to pay their bills for the last three months in Pune circle will face disconnection in power supply. It was found that there are 87,511 consumers with arrears over Rs 42 crores.

In Pune city, 26,796 residential, commercial and industrial consumers have not paid electricity bills for three months. The arrears amounts to Rs 11.81 crores. Supply has been disconnected of 6,536 consumers in Pune city and warnings have been issued to the other remaining consumers to pay up the outstanding amount.

In Pimpri Chinchwad, 16,300 consumers have not paid an amount of Rs 10.91 crore in the last three months. Supply has been disconnected of 3,209 consumers.

In the Pune district;s rural areas such as Ambegaon, Junnar, Maval, Khed, Mulshi, Velhe, and Haveli talukas, 44,415 residential, commercial, and industrial consumers have not paid outstanding bills amounting to Rs 19 crore. The power supply of 6,669 consumers has been cut off.

Those using supply from neighbours or through wires or cables may face action. Action will be taken under section 135/138 of Indian Electricity Act 2003.
