According to an official statement released by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL), an impressive sum of Rs 30.59 crore has been successfully recovered from over 19,000 consumers. These consumers had their power supply permanently disconnected last year in the Pune zone due to various reasons.

The Pune zone encompasses Pune city, Pimpri Chinchwad, and the tehsils of Haveli, Ambegaon, Maval, Junnar, Khed, Mulshi, and Velhe in Pune district.

The statement from MSEDCL reveals that over 80,000 power connections have been disconnected thus far, with approximately 61,397 inspections conducted. Additionally, MSEDCL has taken action against 1,735 customers for electricity theft amounting to Rs 3.13 crore. Several measures have been implemented by officials to bolster revenue generation, including an ongoing campaign to recover outstanding dues from consumers.

As per the data provided by MSEDCL for the Pune zone, power supply has been disconnected for approximately 2.66 lakh consumers. Currently, physical verifications are being carried out, and in the initial phase, a list of over 80,000 consumers has been compiled. MSEDCL personnel are visiting sites where meters have been permanently disconnected for physical verification, with police protection being provided in certain areas.
