Dr. Neelam Gorhe, the Deputy Chairperson of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, has penned a letter to Vikram Kumar, the Municipal Commissioner, urging him to halt the progress of a proposed road project and provide her with an action taken report.

In her written correspondence to the municipal commissioner, Gorhe expressed, “On April 25, 2023, I sent you a letter directing the cessation of work. I specifically instructed that no trees should be felled and emphasized the importance of conducting a comprehensive survey to assess the road’s potential to alleviate traffic congestion. Furthermore, I emphasized the need to engage environmental organizations based in Pune and carefully consider any objections raised by them. It is imperative that no construction takes place on the hill until a hearing is conducted to address the received objections, and no trees should be sacrificed to facilitate the ongoing work.”
