In a significant breakthrough, Pune City Police‘s Anti-Narcotics Squad 1 has successfully busted a thriving narcotics network that employed the popular Dunzo Online Delivery app for distributing LSD. Shockingly, the police have discovered that highly-educated individuals were involved in the illegal drug trade.
The operation unfolded on May 23 when Officer Vishal Shinde, during a routine patrol, received a tip-off regarding the supply of LSD through Dunzo Online Delivery in Kothrud and surrounding areas.
Taking immediate action, the police apprehended Rohan Deepak Gavai (24), a resident of Kothrud, and seized valuables amounting to Rs 1.5 lakh from him. Notably, the arrest led to the confiscation of Rs 90,000 worth of 30mg LSD and other related materials. Subsequently, a case was filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against multiple accomplices, as it was discovered that Gavai was not acting alone.
Further investigations into the criminal network revealed the involvement of Sushant Kashinath Gaikwad (26) from Baner, Dhiraj Deepak Lalwani from Sinhgad Road, Deepak Laxman Gehlot from Pimple Saudagar, and Omkar Ramesh Patil from Wakad. The police have seized valuables worth Rs 53.35 lakh, including 1,032 pieces of LSD weighing 17 grams, with an estimated value of Rs 51.60 lakh.
