Pune Municipal Corporation Establishes Special Grievance Cell For Prompt Redressal Of Citizens Issues

Pune: PMC Cracks Down On Illegal Hoardings After Bombay High Court's Directive
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has set up a new dedicated grievance cell in the Municipal Commissioner’s office to handle and resolve citizen complaints more efficiently. This initiative aims to address the high volume of grievances that the Municipal Commissioner’s office receives daily. The new cell will be led by Deputy Commissioner Avinash Sapkal and will include ten members: executive engineers from nine key departments—water supply, drainage, roads, construction, encroachment removal, and solid waste management—as well as three administrative officers from additional municipal commissioner’s offices.
The cell will operate from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Thursday, in the committee meeting hall of the Municipal Commissioner’s office. This step has been taken to streamline the complaint resolution process, especially given the ongoing administrative issues and the lack of direct representation from elected officials in the municipal corporation.
Under this new setup, the cell will receive, listen to, and forward complaints to the relevant department officials present. It will also follow up on complaints and keep complainants informed about the resolution status. Reports on complaints and their resolutions will be submitted to the Municipal Commissioner every fifteen days through the additional commissioners.
Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale emphasized the importance of promptly addressing public grievances and directed that urgent complaints be escalated to the additional commissioners and the Municipal Commissioner for immediate attention.
