Pune Municipal Corporation Introduces Lottery Schemes to Encourage Timely Payment of Property Tax

Pune : In a bid to encourage all taxpayers to pay their property tax on time, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced lottery schemes that will be applicable to all residential, non-residential and open plot taxpayers, who will pay their property during May 15 to July 31, 2023.
Speaking to Pune Pulse, Ajit Deshmukh, Head of Tax Department, PMC, said “Apart from the 5%-10% concession, the PMC has announced a lottery scheme for all taxpayers for timely payment of property tax.”
As per the official data of PMC, a total of Rs 2,48,70,03,790 property tax has been collected from 1,04,02,371 taxpayers in Pune from April 1 to June 5, 2023. The PMC plans to collect a total of Rs 9,89,50,98,664 property tax from taxpayers. Payment methods like cash, cheque, online payment, NEFT, RTGS, IMPS etc are accepted by the PMC.
PMC has also started commercial sealing of properties of non-taxpayers since the last 2 weeks in which 120 properties worth Rs 2.5 crores are seized by the PMC so far.
Thus, the PMC has appealed to all taxpayers to pay their property tax on time to avail and enjoy the benefits of the lottery scheme.
