Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is busy in carrying out the pre-monsoon works which include cleaning drainage lines, sewage lines, stormwater drainage, and repair works of chambers etc. Additionally, the PMC has also set up disaster management cells to tackle any monsoon-related situations.

As per the information, the PMC has carried out cleaning in all 95 critical spots in the drainage system. Similarly, the cleaning of 382 culverts out of 382 has been completed. Also, 165 kilometres of drainage system have been cleaned. Care is being taken to prevent water from accumulating on the city roads. So, 48,000 chambers have been removed from the existing chambers and 184 km long monsoon lines have been cleaned. Also, new rainy chambers are being created on the side of the footpath which connects to the rainy line. Thus, all cleaning works of critical spots, culverts, drainage system, stormwater chambers and pipes have been completed.

It is worthy to note that the work will continue during the rainy season as well. For this, a disaster management cell has been set up. Citizens can register a complaint 24X7 on these WhatsApp numbers –

Also, during the rainy season, junior/branch engineers have been appointed to take note of the complaints received especially during the night and resolve them under disaster management. Disaster Management cells have been established at the level of each field office and emergency workers have been kept on night duty.
