Pune Municipal Corporation Launches 'Pothole-Free Pune' Drive From Sarasbaug Area
Pune, November 4, 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has officially launched its ‘Khadde Mukt Abhiyan’ (Pothole-Free Pune Campaign) today at Sarasbaug. The initiative began with milling work on the severely damaged road near Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Udyan, opposite Sanas Ground.
As per the PMC’s Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), the patchwork and asphalting work in the area were carried out to mark the start of the campaign. The drive was inaugurated by PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram and Additional Commissioner (Works) Omprakash Divte, in the presence of engineers from the Road Department.
This citywide campaign comes in response to growing public frustration over poor road conditions. Due to extensive digging for the ongoing CCTV project for Pune Police, several internal and central city roads, as well as footpaths, have deteriorated significantly.
Citizens had expressed strong discontent regarding pothole-ridden roads and damaged sidewalks, which were posing risks to daily commuters and pedestrians alike. Taking these concerns seriously, the municipal administration has resolved to make Pune’s roads pothole-free in a phased manner.
PMC officials stated that the drive will cover various parts of the city in the coming weeks, prioritizing areas with the worst road damage. The civic body also appealed to residents to cooperate during the repair work and report potholes through official channels.
