Pune Municipal Corporation’s Standing Committee Approves Construction Of Two DP Roads In Mohamadwadi And Handewadi
The Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) standing committee has greenlit a proposal to develop two DP roads in Mohamadwadi and Handewadi areas through private participation. The estimated cost for this project is ₹88.83 crore.
The roads, including a 24-meter DP road in Mohamadwadi and a 24-meter RP road connecting Undri to Handewadi, will be built using “Development Credit Notes” under the Public-Private Partnership model.
This initiative aims to alleviate traffic congestion in the city, caused by narrow roads. With limited municipal funds, private participation will facilitate the development of seven DP roads and two flyovers.
Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosle chaired the committee meeting where the proposal was approved. Authorities claim this project will ensure smooth traffic flow in the area.
The PMC’s decision to engage private partners follows the successful implementation of similar projects. This collaborative approach is expected to enhance Pune’s infrastructure and improve residents’ quality of life.
