Pune: Murlidhar Mohol Appointed as Election In-Charge for District; Ganesh Bidkar To Lead PMC Poll Campaign
Pune, November 6, 2025 — The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed Pune MP and Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol as the Election In-Charge for Pune District, which includes the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), and the surrounding district areas. Former Leader of the House in PMC Ganesh Bidkar has been entrusted with the responsibility of Pune City Election Chief.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by Ravindra Chavan, BJP’s Maharashtra State President. Under the leadership of Minister Murli Dhar Mohol, Ganesh Bidkar will spearhead the party’s election strategy and campaign for the upcoming municipal polls in Pune.
Mohol has previously served as Standing Committee Chairman and Mayor of Pune, while Bidkar has held several key positions, including Corporator, Party Group Leader, Standing Committee Chairman, and Leader of the House in the Pune Municipal Corporation.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohol expressed gratitude to the party leadership, stating that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the State, the BJP and Mahayuti governments have consistently focused on development-oriented governance. “We are confident that voters will once again place their trust in the BJP and Mahayuti alliance in the upcoming local body elections,” Mohol said.
Bidkar added that during the BJP’s tenure from 2017 to 2022, Pune witnessed significant development. “I am confident that this time too, citizens of Pune will support the BJP and Mahayuti alliance,” he said, thanking senior party leaders for reposing faith in him once again as the city election chief.
