Pune: NCP SP’s Prashant Jagtap Demands Recount In Hadapsar Assembly Constituency Polls: Files Petition For EVM And VVPAT Verification
After the announcement of the Maharashtra State Assembly election results, questions surrounding the reliability of EVMs have surfaced across the state and the nation. Experts from India and abroad have voiced concerns, alleging potential manipulation of EVMs.
Prashant Jagtap, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Sharadchandra Pawar candidate for the Hadapsar Assembly constituency, raised these issues during a press conference and presented evidence suggesting discrepancies in the voting process. He has filed a formal petition for a recount in the constituency, specifically requesting a re-evaluation of votes through EVM and VVPAT verification. As part of this process, Jagtap has deposited a fee of ₹12.74 lakh with the Pune District Collector’s office.
“This issue goes beyond determining who wins or forms the government. It is about stopping the theft of voters’ rights, protecting the sanctity of democracy, and ensuring strict action against those undermining the nation,” Jagtap asserted.
As a staunch believer in the Constitution crafted by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Jagtap emphasized his commitment to safeguarding democracy. He stated that his fight would continue both in court and on the streets, expressing confidence in the judiciary to deliver justice in this matter, added Prashant Jagtap, President, Pune City NCP.
