In a significant healthcare development for Lohegaon and its neighboring regions, a state-of-the-art 100-bed sub-district Hospital is slated for inauguration next week. The decision to establish this hospital was made five years ago in response to the escalating demand for healthcare services in the area, according to officials.

Occupying a sprawling six-acre plot, the hospital, housed in a single-story building, is poised to offer a comprehensive range of medical services. Equipped with a General Ward, ICU, laboratory facilities, and screening services, it aims to cater to diverse healthcare needs efficiently.

Distinguished by thirteen specialty departments encompassing Orthopedics, Medicine, Pediatrics, Gynecology, and more, the hospital is geared to provide advanced medical care. Additionally, both minor and major operation theaters will be available on-site to ensure prompt surgical interventions.

Dr. Nagnath Yempalay, the district civil surgeon, affirmed that the hospital’s infrastructure is nearly complete, with final electrical works underway and expected to conclude shortly.

“The inauguration will take place once the regulatory formalities are fulfilled. Moreover, plans are underway to establish a dialysis center on the premises,” Dr. Yempalay stated.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who inspected the facility last September, had urged officials to expedite the hospital’s construction, initially slated for completion by January 24. However, delays ensued, attributed to the extended timelines required by the Public Works Department.

Constructed by the Public Health Department at a cost of ₹38.8 crore, the hospital addresses a critical gap in public healthcare infrastructure in the region. Currently, residents must travel to Aundh District Hospital or Sassoon General Hospital for medical attention.

Upon operationalization, the hospital will employ 96 personnel, including 13 medical professionals, nurses, and paramedics. Future plans also include the construction of a residential complex within the hospital premises to accommodate staff members, according to officials.
