Pune: The new Katraj flyover is scheduled to be completed and open for public use by March 2024.
Speaking to Pune Pulse, Dhananjay Deshpande, Executive Engineer, NHAI Pune said, “We strive to complete the work quickly and within the time frame. While undertaking any flyover, its initial construction work takes a long time. The latter work is completed at speed. So, now the pillar work has been completed and the girder work is going on in Katraj Ghat. Therefore, the work of this flyover will be completed on time.”
As per information from Deshpande, the deadline for completion of the work is March 2024 although the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) says that the bridge will be constructed in the next seven months, there is a big challenge to complete the work on time by increasing the speed of the work.
The traffic from Navale Bridge to Kondhwa will go directly from Wonder City to Rajas Society via the flyover without coming to Katraj Chowk. Commuting on the new flyover will reduce the vehicular queues around PMPML Bus Stand, Katraj Mandai or along Satara Road and Wonder City. As a result, the problem of traffic in Katraj Chowk and Rajas Chowk will be solved. If there is space for a PMPML bus stand, passengers will not have to face any problems.
The flyover passes through the Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Museum and the central government has allocated a fund of Rs 169.15 crore for this work. The flyover is a six-lane flyover and its length is 1,326 meters.
Following are the details of the new six-tiered flyover at Katraj Chowk:
· Total Funds for the Flyover Work – Rs 169.15 Crores
· Flyover Route – Wonder City to Mauli Garden
· Total Length of Flyover – 1326 meters
· Total Width of Flyover – 25.20 meters
· 7-meter service road on both sides
· 5.5-meter wide sleep road from Wonder City to Katraj Chowk
