Pune News : 5,300 women participate in Saree run held in Pune

Pune today witnessed the women power in all its glory. Over 5300 + women adorned in colourful sarees blazed down the streets of Pune University bearing a flag to fitness. Ladies dressed in sarees came together at Kashaba Jadhav Krida Sankul early in the morning not only from Pune but from far-flung places like Khadki, Pimpri, Alandi, Khadakwasla & other neighbouring towns also.

Taneira Saree Run is organized exclusively for women and is a celebration of the ability of women to transform generations by transforming themselves. Women play different important roles in everyone’s lives and are always the key to keep the entire family healthy and fit. They understand the importance of health but somehow cannot prioritize her own fitness. They face many challenges while pursuing fitness.

What better force than a saree that unites women of India! Saree being an integral part of an Indian woman’s lifestyle. unites women across age, caste, creed economic backgrounds, etc. Hence The Saree Run is platform to share their challenges and find solutions for fitness.

This event was organized by Bangalore based fitness company, JJ Active, who have their fitness centre span India. JJ Active have been organising this saree run for the last 7 years in Bangalore and this is the first time they brought this event to Pune. This event is scheduled to happen in 5 more more cities this year. Mother and daughter duos, groups of friends, mother in law & daughter in law duo, groups of family members, 3 generation of women mother, daughter, granddaughter were seen enjoying themselves this Sunday morning.

Large ladies group such as AWWA, Pinchi, etc participated in huge numbers championing the cause. Women came out in support of their own personal fitness encouraging many more women to shatter the social barriers and take a giant leap towards personal fitness. This 1st Pune Edition of Taneira Saree Run held on 16th April, 2023 at Kashaba Jadhav Kirda Sankul, Pune University. The Chief Guests of the occasion for the flag off were Dr. Geetali Tilak, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Medha Kulkarni, Professor, Ex.MLA, Aarti Bansode – ACP Khadki, Dr. Suchitra Kate, Iron man, one of the Organizers of Satara Hill Half Marathon, Deepa Hirey, National Athlete, Vibhawari Deshpande – Actor, Ashwini Giri – Actor and Subeena Arora AWWA president Southern Command.
