Pune News : 8 dead and 25 injured as bus carrying passengers falls into gorge on Pune – Mumbai old highway

Pune: At least eight passengers lost their lives in a tragic accident on the old Pune-Mumbai highway as a private bus carrying  45 passengers fell into a deep gorge near Shingroba temple in Borghat. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning when the bus was heading towards Mumbai from Pune. The driver reportedly lost control of the bus, resulting in the devastating accident.

According to Somnath Gharge, SP Raigad district, at least eight people were confirmed dead, and 20 to 25 passengers sustained injuries. The injured were immediately rushed to Khopoli Rural Hospital for medical treatment. Local teams were present at the scene to provide assistance to the victims, along with doctors from private hospitals who were deployed to provide further medical assistance.

Police further said  that the passengers in the ill-fated bus were members of the Goregaon Bajiprabhu Zanj Pathak from Goregaon, Mumbai, who had just completed a program in Pune and were returning to Goregaon when the accident occurred. The bus reportedly fell into a gorge that was 40 to 50 feet deep, resulting in fatalities and injuries.

The authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, and efforts are being made to provide medical care and support to the injured and the families of the deceased. The incident serves as a tragic reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for vigilance while traveling on highways.
