Pune News: 9-Year-Old Boy Drowns In Water-Filled Pit At Ghorpadi Railway Flyover Construction Site
A tragic incident occurred in Pune’s Ghorpadi area, where a 9-year-old schoolboy drowned in a water-filled pit excavated for the construction of a proposed railway flyover.
The deceased has been identified as Krish Subhash Angarkar, a resident of Khan Road, Pune. On March 28, Krish left school but never returned home, prompting his family to file a missing complaint. A day later, on March 29, his body was found in a waterlogged pit near the flyover site. Mundhwa police and fire brigade personnel later drained the pit and retrieved his remains.
According to the investigation, Krish was a fourth-grade student who regularly met his elder brother after school. However, on that fateful day, he did not reach his brother’s school. Police suspect that Krish, out of curiosity, approached the excavated area and accidentally lost balance and fell into the pit.
A case has been registered against the construction company and its contractors for negligence, as they failed to ensure safety measures around the excavation site. Sub-Inspector Thorat is leading the investigation. The incident highlights the dangers of unsecured construction sites, urging authorities to enforce stricter safety protocols.
