Pune: In a shocking incident, strict action has been taken against 76 BLOs (Booth Level Officers) of Pune as various shortcomings were found in their work such as evasion from voter registration work, irregularities & so on.

As per information shared by Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, District Collector, Pune, the departmental investigation is ordered for the 76 polling station level officers (BLOs) who evaded the work of voter registration.

A voter registration drive was undertaken in all eight assembly constituencies of the city. In it, it was revealed that there was very little voter registration in the Khadakwasla assembly constituency. Mainly, the teachers who were appointed as BLOs for voter registration in Khadakwasla Constituency were found to be not serious towards this work. Therefore, the District Collector has taken strict notice of this. Accordingly, he expressed his displeasure about this and ordered a departmental inquiry of all the concerned teachers appointed as BLOs in the municipal schools.

Meanwhile, after the District Collector’s order, the concerned BLOs are expected to take care of their work and do the work of voter registration seriously & without any issues. It has been warned that legal action will be taken under the Representation of the People Act if it is proved that the concerned BLOs have deliberately evaded this work.
