Pune News: Basanta Utsav celebrations 2023 to take place at Empress Garden

Pune: Bangiya Sanskriti Samsad, the oldest Bengali socio-cultural organization in Pune, is all set to celebrate the arrival of spring with the 18th edition of the Basanta Utsav. This year’s event will take place on Sunday, February 26, at Empress Garden and promises to be a memorable experience for all attendees.

Following a two-year break due to the pandemic, the Basanta Utsav celebration will feature live singing and dancing performances by talented artists across Pune. The program is curated on the lines of Basant Utsav celebrations in Shantiniketan, West Bengal, with songs and writings from the legendary Rabindranath Tagore specially selected, compiled, and designed for the festival.

Over the years, the Basanta Utsav celebration has seen the participation of some of the most eminent dancers and singers, including Dr. Sucheta Chaphekar, Yogini Gandhi, Darshana Zaveri, Parimal Phadke, Pramita Mallick, Srabani Sen, Swagatalokkhi Dasgupta, Smt. Rezwana, and Adiity Mohsin (from Bangladesh). This year’s guest singer is the famous exponent of Rabindra sangeet from Kolkata, Manoj Murali Nair, who originally hails from Kerala and spent most of his life in Shantiniketan learning Rabindra Sangeet.

The Basanta Utsav celebration is a must-attend event for anyone who loves music, dance, and Bengali culture. So mark your calendars for Sunday, February 26th, and join the festivities at Empress Garden at 9:30 am. Don’t miss this opportunity to witness the beauty and exuberance of the Basanta Utsav celebration.

Madhumita Ghosh, President of Bangiya Sanskriti Samsad, has appealed to the citizens to join this year’s program and participate in the festivities.
