Bavdhan Citizen Forum (BCF) had organized a Nature and Birds Photography competition on March 5 near DSK Ranwara in Bavdhan. The competition aimed to provide a platform for aspiring photographers and create awareness about the importance of conserving Bavdhan’s nature and ecosystem.

The competition was open to all residents of Bavdhan and saw 23 participants submitting a total of 46 photographs capturing the essence of the natural beauty of Bavdhan. The exhibition, which took place from 4 PM to 7 PM, was well-received by the residents of Bavdhan, who showed up in large numbers to support the participants.

The judges, Prashant Shirgaonkar and Sidd Banerjee, had the difficult task of selecting the winners based on a scale of 1 to 5 for parameters such as impact, lighting, story, technical quality, creativity, composition, points of interests, and use of color. Whereas, the photographs had to be of Bavdhan and by Bavdhan residents with a message. The first prize was awarded to Amit Walsangkar, the second prize to Dilip Jaju, and the third prize to Sachin Pawar.

“We had organized the photography competition to give the message and create sensitivity amongst residents of Bavdhan in terms of the ecosystem. Bavdhan has a lake and Ramnadi but due to urbanisation we are destroying our ecosystem, which should not happen. Therefore, through this competition, we intend to showcase the ecosystem present in Bavdhan to residents,” said Nachiket Deshpande, organizer of the competition.
