Pune: A BMW car caught fire on the Undri Pisoli road in Undri, Pune, on April 11 around 11:35 pm. The intensity of the fire initially was low, but it gradually increased, resulting in the entire car being engulfed in flames. The cause of the fire was determined to be a leakage in the fuel tank of the BMW.

Harsha Yevale, a firefighter from Pune Municipal Corporation who arrived at the scene, stated, “The intensity of fire earlier was less but then slowly the fire increased. Whole BMW car caught fire. Due to the leakage in the fuel tank of BMW the incident happened. The driver in the car unaware of the incident drove for almost one and half kilometre after the car caught fire.

However, after the driver was informed he stopped the car and firstly by using a fire extinguisher the fire was tried to control till the fire tender arrived. But due to the huge blaze it was difficult and later the fire was doused.”

Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident. A firefighter who was with the Ranji family at the time took prompt action to put out the fire on the BMW X1 using a fire extinguisher, and further assistance was provided by the Kondhwa Budruk fire brigade personnel, who extinguished the fire completely.
