Pune: Case against two men was filed for robbing a chef at gunpoint in Kondhwa. The accused have been identified as Tabrez alias Parvez Munir Shaikh (22) of J.K. Park, Kondhwa, and Ramzan Abbas Patel (24) of Shivneri Nagar, Kondhwa.

According to the police, the complainant, a 22-year-old chef originally from Bihar, currently resides in Kondhwa and works at a local eatery on NIBM Road. The incident occurred on Saturday, February 15, around 4 a.m. when he was heading to work. Near Maurya Housing Society on NIBM Road, the accused approached him on a two-wheeler, pointed a gun at his head, and attempted to rob him.

The victim resisted, resulting in a scuffle during which he managed to snatch the gun from the assailants, but his shirt was torn in the struggle. The robbers attempted to steal his mobile phone before fleeing.

The victim reported the incident to his senior chef, who then informed the police. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Dhanyakumar Godse and Senior Police Inspector Vinay Patankar visited the scene and launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the area was reviewed, leading to the identification and arrest of the accused, Parvez and Ramzan.

Additionally, to curb street crimes like robberies and assaults, Pune Police have launched the ‘Cop-24’ patrolling initiative. This program, inaugurated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, deploys 726 specially assigned officers to patrol city areas round-the-clock, ensuring public safety.
