Pune News: Citizens Demand Action Against More Unauthorised Constructions in PMRDA; Only 316 Demolished

The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority has been facing severe challenges with several unauthorised constructions mushrooming in the region. Despite the strong efforts taken by the authority, only 316 structures have been demolished, which has concerned the residents.

The Chief Minister of Maharashtra  Eknath Shinde in the recently held assembly session was speaking while addressing the concerns raised by the MLA’s over the unauthorised constructions. Shinde informed that action has been taken against such unauthorised constructions under the Maharashtra Regional Planning and Town Planning Act, 1966. In a survey that was carried out regarding the unauthorised constructions, 7631 structures were reported to be constructed without permissions within the limits of PMRDA. Between 2015 – 2018 – 1213 illegal constructions were identified while the numbers went up to 6418 constructions between 2019 to 2022. Â
