Pune News : Cook working in Undri based society arrested for molestation of minor

Pune : A 24 year old private cook was arrested by the Kondhwa police allegedly sexually abusing and molesting a minor, of an employer, said officials.

Kondhwa police arrested Ranjeet Kumar Mandal from Uttar Pradesh, living in Undri. The incident was reported on 27 November, when no one was in the house, at that time, Mandal allegedly molested a minor. When the minor resisted, the accused threatened to kill her. 

The complainant is a single parent who lived with his three children, including an elder daughter and other two children. He also had a female caretaker and had hired Mandal for a cooking job. 

Dineshkumar Patil, assistant police inspector, Kondhwa police station said, “Accused was working in their house as a cook for the last five years.They treated Mandal as a family member but he proved them wrong.”

After the incident, the victim’s parents approached the Kondhwa police station and registered a case against the Mandal. Police have invoked relevant sections against the accused including molestation and relevant sections of Protection of Children From Sexual Offences Act. 

On November 27, the minor daughter faced an assault when a suspect tried to forcibly bring her close. The incident took place when the female caretaker went out for some work. Despite initial escapes, the suspect threatened her with death if she spoke out. On Friday, the assailant attempted to kiss and manhandle her, prompting her to seek help from a relative. The victim’s father was informed, leading to the suspect’s arrest. He appeared in court on Sunday, remanded in magisterial custody, and sent to Yerwada central prison.

Police said, accused was arrested and produced in the magistrate court on Sunday and he was remanded to magistrate custody.
