Pune News: Crackdown On Illegal Hoardings: Case Filed Against Two In Ravet
Pimpri-Chinchwad: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has intensified its crackdown on illegal hoardings, leading to a case being registered against two individuals in Ravet. The Licensing Inspector of PCMC, Rajendra Chaudhary, lodged a complaint at the Ravet Police Station, resulting in legal action against the accused.
According to police reports, the PCMC has adopted a strict policy to curb unauthorized hoardings and has formed special teams to identify them. During a recent inspection between Bhakti-Shakti Chowk and Mukai Chowk, officials discovered an illegal hoarding mounted on a directional signage arch near Nigdi Pradhikaran Sector 26, close to the railway bridge. The hoarding was promptly removed, and a case was filed. The Ravet police are currently investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, PCMC officials revealed that the city has 1,135 authorized hoardings, but 100 hoarding licenses are pending renewal. To enhance surveillance, the civic body has introduced an AI-based monitoring system that will track existing and newly erected advertisement hoardings across the city. Due to manpower shortages in the Sky Signs & Licensing Department, survey efforts were previously inadequate. However, the AI system will improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure swift action against unauthorized hoardings.
Additionally, authorized hoardings will be permitted only at designated locations. The private agency managing the AI system will receive 15% of the additional revenue generated, and the contract will run for 10 years.
