Pune News : Dance Teacher Arrested for Repeatedly Raping Minor Girl by Promising Role In Films

A shocking incident has come to light as a 32-year-old dance teacher from Hadapsar stands accused of sexually assaulting a minor girl. The arrest followed revelations that the accused had been raping the girl for several months, using the promise of a movie role to manipulate her.

The distressing case unraveled when the 15-year-old victim confided in her mother on Thursday. The young girl, a Class X student, had been attending dance classes at an academy in Hadapsar for the past four months.

Identified as Sushil Rajendra Kadam (32), a resident of Manjri in Hadapsar, the accused worked both as a dance teacher and a receptionist at the said academy.

According to the police, the assault occurred repeatedly from July onwards. The accused cunningly enticed the girl with the allure of a movie role, taking her for an audition under her mother’s permission. During the course of the ordeal, the victim’s mother made several calls to Kadam, attempting to ascertain their whereabouts and expressing her desire to meet her daughter.

However, Kadam deliberately avoided giving a straightforward response. Later that day, around 4 pm, he dropped the victim off at Shivajinagar Chowk. Traumatized by the incident, the girl eventually recounted her harrowing experience to her mother.

Earlier instances had seen Kadam taking the girl in his car to a lodge in Chambali on Saswad road, where he raped her. He then resorted to threats, warning her that he would harm her and her parents if she dared to disclose the truth.

In response to the incident, the victim’s mother rushed to the scene with her daughter. Local residents intervened, subjecting Kadam to physical assault. Subsequently, Saswad police took him into custody. The case was subsequently transferred to the Hadapsar police station for further investigation.

Providing insight into the situation, Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Shirke stated, “The accused, entrusted with teaching dance to aspiring performers, took advantage of his position. He cheated his student on the pretext of giving her a role in a movie.”

“The victim has undergone a medical examination, and we are diligently investigating the matter. Appropriate action will be taken against the accused.”

The case has been registered at the Hadapsar police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 376 (punishment for rape), 376(2)(N) (committing rape repeatedly on the same woman), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), and sections 4, 6, 8, and 12 under the POCSO Act.
