Pune News: Defence Personnel From Dehu Road Participate In Joint Training Session with PCMC Fire Brigade
Pimpri, November 27, 2025: Strengthening inter-agency coordination and preparedness, 60 personnel from the Dehu Road Cantonment’s defence unit visited the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s (PCMC) central fire station at Sant Tukaram Nagar for a hands-on familiarisation and joint drill session. The engagement was aimed at understanding urban fire-response operations, gaining exposure to specialised equipment, and participating in practical mock drills with the fire brigade team.
During the visit, senior fire officer Gautam Ingawale briefed the defence personnel on the PCMC Fire Brigade’s operational structure, response protocols, and the range of emergency situations handled by the department. The session included a live mock drill demonstrating fire suppression techniques, rapid response, and rescue procedures—allowing the defence personnel to experience how civil fire services operate in real-time urban scenarios.
The visiting team also received an orientation on key firefighting assets including fire tenders, rescue vehicles, hose reel systems, fire suits, and other essential tools. The training was part of a structured Command Firefighting Course organised by the Dehu Road Cantonment establishments. Several officers and staff from both sides were present through the session.
“Both the armed forces and the fire brigade stand at the frontlines of national service—one defending the nation from external threats and the other protecting citizens during emergencies. This interactive session holds great value as it deepens mutual understanding of each other’s operational strengths. Though the roles differ, the purpose of service remains the same.”
— Vijaykumar Khorate, Additional Commissioner, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation
“This engagement is significant as the defence personnel often operate in high-risk and unpredictable environments. Understanding the fire brigade’s methods and training alongside our teams will certainly enhance their preparedness for emergency situations.”
— Venkatesh Durvas, Deputy Commissioner, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation
“Firefighters and military personnel both face life-threatening challenges in their line of duty. The energy during this session was exceptional—every participant was alert, curious, and deeply involved. We are committed to conducting more such joint training efforts in the future.”
— Rishikant Chipade, Fire Officer, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation
