Pune: Team Chalo PMC, a citizen-led movement for Pune civic issues resolution, has begun an online campaign against the 300+ tree felling on Ganeshkhind Road.Speaking to Pune Pulse, Ameet Singh, a core member of Pune River Revival & Chalo PMC said, “394 trees are being planned to be cut on Ganeshkhind Road. We had filed a petition against it in the Bombay High Court.

The High Court had instructed the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to completely rethink the entire procedure about this & act accordingly. The PMC had invited suggestions, objections etc but it was during Diwali time.

However, due to Diwali holidays, festivities etc, who would have been there to give this a thought & present their objections? So, we have started this campaign for maximum objections, suggestions etc from citizens.”As per further information shared by Amit Singh, till now, more than 100 people have raised their voices against this by submitting the campaign form.

Many more are expected. The Instagram handle of Chalo PMC says “A large number of big old trees are being felled on Ganeshkhind Road, Shivajinagar, Pune.

We have created an objection letter for the same.”To submit the form, click here. The last date for submitting the form is November 20 (Monday) till 3 pm.In October 2023, the Bombay High Court stayed any further cutting of trees and instructed that the orders be conveyed to the Commissioner immediately – https://stage.mypunepulse.com/bombay-high-court-gives-stay-on-illegal-tree-felling-on-ganeshkhind-road/
