Pune News: Former Employee Arrested For Demanding ₹25 Lakh Extortion From Educational Institution Owner
Pune, March 21, 2025 – A former employee of an educational institution has been arrested by Sinhagad Road Police for allegedly demanding a ₹25 lakh extortion from the institution’s director. The accused has been identified as Sudarshan Kamble, a resident of Dhayari Phata.
Threats and Blackmail Attempt
Kamble, who previously handled CCTV operations at the institution, left the job during the COVID-19 pandemic. On March 6, he allegedly entered the institution’s premises and sent a threatening message to the director. In the message, he falsely claimed to have an objectionable video involving the director’s son and a female employee. He demanded ₹25 lakh in exchange for not releasing the video, threatening to tarnish the institution’s reputation if the payment was not made.
Despite multiple attempts to pressure the director, the victim approached the police and filed a complaint at Sinhagad Road Police Station.
Police Investigation and Arrest
According to Senior Police Inspector Dilip Daigade, Kamble attempted the extortion, assuming that the institution’s management would pay without questioning his claims. The police conducted a technical investigation and successfully tracked him down. Assistant Police Inspector Sameer Chavan is leading the investigation.
Kamble has been arrested, and further inquiries are underway.
